Welcome to Rooster’s Crow!

Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.” (Luke 22:34)

Peter was one of Jesus’s closest disciples, part of His inner circle. During the Last Supper, Jesus told Peter that he was going to deny Him. Peter adamantly declared his faith and loyalty to Jesus, even if it meant his death. We can be certain that in Peter’s mind, there was no doubt in his sincerity and commitment; however, Jesus foretold Peter’s denial, that it would not be once nor twice, but thrice. He would deny Christ three times.

We can only imagine Peter’s shock and disbelief to Jesus’s prophetic statement. By itself, it seems like a sentence of damnation; however, hope can be found in His previous statement in verse 32. “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Jesus called him Simon, the name associated with his former self, the weak man attempting to control the world around him in his own perceived power and ability. Jesus told Peter that He had prayed for his faith to not fail permanently, and when he had “turned again” then he could strengthen the other disciples. Jesus was not condemning Peter for the failure, but He was already encouraging him and showing him love, so that Peter would have the strength and courage to return to his faith after he faltered.

Rooster’s Crow was started with the intent of sharing the hope and love found only in Christ Jesus. As humans, we are all born with a sin nature (Romans 3:23), a proclivity of leaning on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-7), and on a path to eternal damnation (Romans 5:23).

But God loves His creation, so He made a way for us to find salvation and eternal life through His Son, Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)

If you want to experience hope, peace, and love that will surpass anything you can imagine, you must simply:

  1. Admit that you have sinned
  2. Believe that Jesus died for you
  3. Repent of your sins
  4. Accept the free gift of grace and salvation

It is as simple as that. There is no special creed or prayer to recite. There is nothing you can do to earn His love or eternal life. Believe in the reality of the four statements without doubt and tell it to Jesus as if He were standing in front of you, and He will accept you with open arms as a son or daughter, without reservation, with a hug of love that will be unlike anything you have ever experienced. It does not matter how good you have tried to be, or how many bad things you have ever done. Jesus loves YOU! His blood that He shed when He died has the power to save your soul – no matter what. Period.

Listen to that small voice you hear. Feel that tug deep inside of you. That is His love calling to you. Admit, believe, repent, and accept.
